About
Alex Rivera is an award-winning documentary filmmaker whose intimate, observational style has earned recognition at LGBTQ film festivals across three continents. Trained at the American Film Institute, Alex spent a decade embedded in communities rarely given a mainstream platform — producing work that challenges stereotypes and centers lived experience. Their debut series for LGBTQ Television Network, Voices Unheard, became one of the platform's most-watched documentary projects.
Alex believes that the camera is not just a tool of documentation, but an instrument of justice — a way to make the invisible visible and to hold the world accountable to its most marginalized voices.
"Every story untold is a voice silenced. I film to make sure no one is invisible."
